常陸國一之宮。多くは参道正面に本殿・拝殿があるのが通例ですが、こちらは大鳥居から表参道を進んで右向きに本殿に参拝する他にあまり類を見ない配置となっています。一方で奥宮は御手洗の湧水の奥に位置し、北向きに建っており、本殿が奥宮と同じ方角に向けて建てたのかもしれません。本殿・石の間・幣殿・拝殿の4棟からなる社殿は、元和5年(1619)、徳川2代将軍の秀忠公が寄進したもので重要文化財に指定。

要は剣術の聖地だ!よって決断のご利益があるそうな。木刀買うならぜひここで。赤樫の脇差2300円~。香取神宮も剣術に縁があるが、こちらの方が境内の雰囲気が厳かで良い。あと鹿や鯉がいる。

鹿島神社の総本社になる大きな神社。奥宮までの参道は大きな古木が両脇に並び雰囲気あります。駐車場はすぐ横に有料のもの、1ブロック離れた所r192沿いに無料のものがあります。どちらもそんなに大きくないので注意。

玉砂利を敷いていない平らな古道なので私は歩き易い参道。拝殿を進むと鹿さんがいたり。手付かずの森そのものが御神体。香取さまとセットの凹の要石を目指しました。近くにいるだけで 大きな『何か』を感じました。
